Solar Installation for SMA at Oku Village

Summary: SMA were looking for an off-grid solar solution to provide electricity to their missionary home in Oku, a village in the northern part of the Ashanti Region.

Client: Society of African Missions (SMA)

Date: 25-28th April 2018

Details:

SMA approached MindNET some 2 months ago, with the hope of electrifying their residence in the Oku village, plus providing electricity for the teacher’s quarters at the local school.

After an agreement between SMA and MindNET was signed, it took 3 weeks for MindNET to execute the project. Once the first installation of payments was made (70%), MindNET used the 2 weeks to fabricate and acquire the necessary equipment for the project. That is to purchase Solar panels, batteries, inverters, racks and balance of systems accessories. The project involved 2 solar installations.

The final week, MindNET planned the logistics of moving all equipment via 2 cars on a 7 hour journey up to the village. Originally, the operation was to take 3 days, but had to be extended to 4 to make sure project was completed satisfactorily. This was MindNET’s first off-grid solar installation, and first one that was executed with an in-house team.
