MindNET partners GridX to finance solar projects

On June 24th, 2019, MindNET Technologies went into a Joint Venture agreement with an international solar financing company by the name of Grid X. The solar financiers are willing to take on solar projects in Ghana in need of financing, and they are looking for projects within the $100,000 to $10,000,000 range.

It is not news to those in the solar industry that upfront cost for installing solar is one of the biggest bottlenecks to its proliferation across the country. There are a number of financial instruments available to clients and installers, but usually, those funds have stringent regulations and are only valid for projects above a high minimum size. Given MindNET’s involvement in the industry, we have actively sorted out funding that would be flexible to the varying needs of clients and installers in the country.

The financing model is simple. Based on current energy consumption a proposal is drafted with the aim of proposing a solar installation that saves the client on energy costs. Once that is confirmed, a loan-to-own agreement is arranged whereby the solar financiers pay the cost for procuring and installing the solar system and the client pays 10-20% off their electricity bill for a period between 8-15 years, until they own the system. Solar systems (grid-tie with no battery-storage) usually have a life span of 25 years, so the client, once done with payments, will be making money on the savings.

MindNET Smash 200 mini Moshi Moshi Sales!

After 6 months of selling the Mini Moshi Moshi in rural areas, Mindnet has hit and passed 200 sales adding on 100 sales more after 3 months. Sales were made mostly from rural areas of Eastern, Volta including Ashanti Region which was added on after the next 3 months.

Sales didn’t decrease as compared with the previous sales. The rate of sales didn’t change much considering the fact that another region was added and also taking in consideration the experience we have had on the field.

The journey hasn’t been easy. The hitches arose from sales agents who were not performing as expected as they were not diligent enough to go the extra mile. We are keen on increasing sales by working with performing agents to double up sales within the next months.

MindNET Complete first Solar Installation!

On April 18th, MindNET oversaw the completion of its first brokered and executed solar installation. The 5KW installation was done at a residence in Regimanuel Gray Estate on the Spintex road. MindNET was awarded the opportunity to install the solar system to reduce the client’s electricity bill, which was averaging 3200 GHC a month.

MindNET sub-contracted Power World, a Ghana owned solar installing company, to execute the installation, which was duly completed on April 18th 2018. MindNET associate consultant, Abdallah Smith was on site to oversee the installation and make sure all went smoothly.

MindNET will look to add to this acheivement when it goes to Ejura in the northern part of Ashanti to install the solar system for Society of African Missions church in Oku Village.

Stay tuned.
