Socio-Environmental Impact Study

Summary: Conducted a socio-environmental impact study in collaboration with external environmental consults on behalf of Spaans Babcock in relation to the waste-to-energy project’s (SWEEP) development.

Client: Spaans Babcock Ghana

Date: April – June 2018

Details:

MindNET conducted a socio-environmental impact study as a deliverable needed to submit before applying for an environmental permit. Without an environmental permit SWEEP wouldn’t be able to acquire a construction permit to begin physical development of the project.

The study involved surveys with local indigenes as well as a number of environmental tests on the standards and climate of the location of the project in Dormeabra, Ga West. The environmental tests included air, soil and water tests to establish a baseline which could be compared with after the project was in operation. A number of social indices were also established, studying lifestyles of the indigenes, and economic activity.

After data had been compiled it was synthesise into two reports, a baseline study and an socio-environmental impact report.
