Regimanuel Gray Estate Waste Segregation Strategy

Summary: Researching various recycling options within Accra and designing a novel concept for the separation and recycling of waste, based on RGE’s current waste system.

Client: RGEA Homeowners Association

Start Date: October 2017

Details:

Our client, Regimanuel Grey Estate (RGE), is a renowned estate developer in Ghana with multiple properties and estates across the country serving different income groups. MindNET were able to convince RGE to begin preparations toward separating and recycling their waste at source. This would be an unprecedented pilot program, since most separation currently occurs at the respective landfills. As part of the initial preparations MindNET designed a model for recycling the organic, plastic, and paper in an attempt to reduce the stress on the already over-capacity landfill at Kpone and Abokobi. After which, MindNET arranged a composition analysis via a sampling and sorting exercise to attain a more accurate understanding of RGE’s waste breakdown, producing a preliminary waste report with budget recommendations. The implementation of the project will be preceded with household educational program which will start beginning of 2018.
